Last month, ZARA, Spain’s “cheap chic” fashion retailer opened a new online store in the U.S. ZARA already has online stores in various countries around the world, including Europe and Asia, but the new U.S. store is different for one reason: the prices are lower than those of almost all the other countries’ stores.

Are you in a ZARA-less country?

Despite the smattering of stores around the world, many countries still don’t have ZARA online stores at all. For example, shoppers in Australia, New Zealand, or Switzerland can’t buy from ZARA at any price.

ZARA is known throughout Europe for its “fast fashion,” or striking styles at reasonable prices. It’s biggest European competitor is H&M, and comparable US lines are the Gap and Express. So what can you do if you’re interested in these styles, but can’t find ZARA in your country, or just want to get a better price?

Get international shipping from the ZARA U.S. online store using package forwarding

To encourage you the buy from the stores in other countries (at higher prices), the ZARA U.S. online store only ships to US addresses. However, you can get your own US address by registering for a package forwarding account, use it to order from the ZARA US online store, and ship your packages internationally.

          1. Get an OPAS account with a US and Japan address at http://www.opas.com. When you buy online, use this as the shipping address for your order.
          2. We’ll email you when a package is received. You log in and declare the contents based on your order history.
          3. Submit a shipping request in our system. If you’d like, you can wait to submit until you have multiple packages so that we can combine them into a single shipment and save you overall cost.
          4. We’ll process and determine final measurements for your package — we always reduce and repack to provide the safest, most cost-efficient packaging.
          5. You pay through PayPal or we charge your credit card on file (or you can request an estimate and choose your preference for shipping service from that.)
          6. If import duty/tax is due, you’ll need to pay the carrier at the time of delivery, then you get the package.

    • OPAS provides you with a business/commercial shipping address in the US and Japan as part of our service. It is NOT considered a PO Box. You’d buy your items as normal, and use this address to ship to. Once we receive the items, we’d notify you by email and you’d have the choice to ship immediately or wait to receive more items to consolidate and save on international shipping cost.   4. I live in US and would like to ship something from here to a friend in UK. I do not need to create a US address as I already have one. Can I still ship to UK?

    • Yes, but we need any shipment we send from the US to originate from our facility in Portland, Oregon. We can’t conduct site-to-site shipping. We can provide you with a US address to send items to that we can then ship internationally for you, if you don’t want to get involved in the hassle of filling out customs paperwork on your own or you wish to access below market rates for superior courier service from UPS or DHL.

  5. Hi, I was wondering if you could do the opposite. There is an item in the UK Zara store no longer in stock in the US store. Would it be possible for you to have a proxy address in the UK to handle this or would you happen to know anything about it?

    • Unfortunately, we are only able to offer US and Japan addresses to our members at this time. If the UK store (or other international vendor) will ship to either of those destinations, then we’d still be able to receive for you, or place a personal shopper order for you. We would need to charge you for import duty and tax when the goods entered the US or Japan, if any were due, but then we’d be able to ship to you as normal for any other OPAS package. This is fairly common for some members who live in the Asia/Pacific region, because many European merchants will ship to the US but not to Asia/Pacific.

Hi there a bought a winter coat from Zara November 2013 I had washed it for the first time last week and it has came out in a bit of a mess I took it back to Glasgow fort Zara but they wanted the receipt as it was over a year ago I don’t have it it was int a cheap jacket my mum payed £120.00 for it am really dissapointed as a did love this coat and its that bad I can’t were it anymore would you be able to help me forward with this as I don’t know we’re I stand now thank you Natalie.

    • We’re sorry to hear about the coat, but I believe the only way we’d be able to help you is if you’re interested in ordering a replacement from within the US. We can assist in purchasing from Zara in the US, but unfortunately we have no recourse to process returns with that company that are lacking without the receipt. The best advice I could offer would be to email Zara’s customer service directly, and perhaps they’d be willing to replace the goods or offer a store credit.     I I live Denmark and I want purchase some items from Zara Ireland. Is there a way of doing that?

    • Unfortunately, we do not have an office in Ireland, so we cannot receive packages in that country. If they’ll ship to the US we would be able to receive there for you and then ship to Denmark, but otherwise we can only receive packages in the US and Japan, where our physical addresses are.

    • OPAS can ship to South Africa for you, but at this time Zara is very strict with orders to international customers or package forwarders. This is usually as a result of an international distribution contract the company has — international buyers using a service like OPAS’ personal shopper to buy at US Prices endangers the markups the company can apply for international distribution, so they do their best to block orders to forwarders..

    • That would be based on the service selected. Our fastest services, UPS Express Saver and FedEx Priority, deliver in 2-4 days anywhere in the world. Some methods are 5-7 days with those carriers. US Postal methods rely on the local post for last mile delivery, so that varies based on the postal service in your country.

  42. Do you ship to Guam?
    It’s a U.S. territory so I don’t understand why it cost more than shipping to foreign countries.

    • We do ship to Guam, but the reason the cost is higher is simply because of the trans-pacific flight required to land a package in Guam, compared to truck transport within the continental US. The carriers have higher rates for the service, so we must charge more for shipping.

      On Zara’s website, they note in their buying guide that the delivery country/region must always be the same country/region in which the purchase was made, so you would not be able to ship to South Africa unless you placed the order there. If you purchase your items here in the USA, you can sign up for an OPAS address and then get your package sent here. We can then ship it to South Africa for you.
