How much does Package Forwarding cost?

Save money on shipping costs: The OPAS goal is to make international shipping an option on any budget while providing top-level service. Buying internationally presents a new expense that must be accounted for in your budget. Consolidating multiple purchases to be shipped together in one box can save you a considerable amount of money.

Shipping Rates

Use our shipping calculator: OPAS charges a single fee for our shipping service based on weight and dimension. The rates you’ll find on our shipping calculator show the cost of receiving, processing, and shipping. The shipping rates do not include insurance, Express processing fees, inspection, and other charges. Import duty and tax, if required, are the responsibility of the recipient and must be paid to the carrier at the time of delivery.

Dimensional Weight vs Actual Weight

How the shipping weight is determined: The shipping weight of a package is the scale weight (actual weight) and dimensional weight (measurement of the space the package occupies), whichever is greater.

Dimensional weight is calculated by multiplying the 3 dimensions of a box and dividing by 139, so the formula is: H” x L” x W” /139. It is important to note that all shipping weights round up to the next lb.

Repacking: OPAS takes great care to repack your items to ensure safety and the lowest possible dimensions, giving you the lowest possible cost. This is a free service for each shipment and is done automatically, whether you are shipping a single item or consolidating many items. Note that consolidation carries a flat-rate service fee for basic Package Only accounts; repacking does not.

Why an empty box weighs 12 LBS
(12 x 12 x 12)/139 = 12.43 LBS

Units of Measure

At our US facility, OPAS uses United States Customary Units of pounds and inches to determine weight and dimensions. At our Osaka, Japan facility the metric system is used. For our customers more familiar with the metric system – you can use this convenient measurement converter to convert the units of measurement (or just search Google for “English to Metric” to find your own converter).

OPAS’ commitment to fairness: We know the importance of making sure that our members understand the nature of our charges and the services they represent. We always conduct business in a fair, equitable way, and always want our members to be as informed as possible. If you still have questions regarding costs associated with Package Forwarding or anything else, please contact Customer Service, and we will be happy to answer your questions.
